City of Johannesburg Overview

The City of Johannesburg is a metropolitan municipality that manages the local governance of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is divided into several branches and departments in order to expedite services for the city.

The City of Johannesburg developed a growth and development strategy to take us into 2040. It is a strategy that not only provides a vision of the future, but importantly, defines clear outcomes against which to measure progress. We all want to live in a great city – a city that inspires everyone to achieve more than is immediately possible. These aspirations are expressed in the vision developed from the outreach process – a vision the City chooses to adopt for the path ahead:

  1. I represent the body corporate of Eremos, situated in Sundowner, Randburg.

    Since 2010, we have been receiving our utility bills with incorrect billing amounts and address details. I have on numerous occasions visited the City of Joburg offices in Braamfontein and Randburg to have this matter rectified but it has never been resolved. I even assisted the consultant by capturing the correct details for my account only to find out that the changes I made were reverted the following month and would once again read incorrectly.

    I have tried numerous times speaking, writing and even visiting the offices of Mr Thandinkosi at COJ and Mr Thamsanquana at City Power to resolve the issue without having any joy of the matter being resolved over the past years.
    I have recently written to Mr Thandinkosi, asking to meet with him to try and resolve the matter. It has been three weeks and still no response from him.

  2. Desperately need my power reconnecting! My wife resolved issues face to face on Friday. Immediate Reconnection was promised. So far 5 days off and no sign of action. I telephoned. Wrong Department. Given 3 different numbers. I assume one works (the other 2 were either disconnected or not City of Joburg) and it is CONSTANTLY engaged. Tried 16 times so far. This is appalling!
